2008 Faculty Members

Dr. David Brown - Advanced Orchestra, Advanced Music Theory - Dr. Brown will be starting his
sixth year as conductor of the Maranatha Baptist Bible College Symphony Orchestra this fall. He
received his B.A. and M.A.in Trombone Performance from Bob Jones University and a D.M.A. in
Choral Conducting from the University of Missouri in Kansas City where he spent fifteen years as
the Music Director of Tri-City Ministries. He is currently the Orchestra Director at Calvary Baptist
Church in Watertown, WI in addition to serving on faculty at Maranatha Baptist Bible College.

Mr. Allen Probus - Intermediate Orchestra, Cello Instructor, Chamber Coach - Allen Probus is in
his sixth season as cellist in the Kansas City Symphony. He studied with Stephen Gerber, principal
cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra, at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he received a master's
degree. He also received his undergraduate degree from Bob Jones University. Allen has performed
with the Cleveland Orchestra and has toured Europe and the Far East with the Detroit and Pittsburg
Symphonies. Allen is a founding member of the cello quartet CelloRondo and is also a member of the
Kansas City Chamber Orchestra.

Mrs. Andrea Probus - Intermediate Orchestra Assistant, Violin Instructor, Ear Training,
Chamber Coach
- Andrea Probus graduated from Bob Jones University with a bachelor's degree
in violin performance. She has played with the Cleveland Women's Orchestra, Akron and Canton Symphonies,
and the Kansas City Symphony. She has studied string pedagogy under Mimi Zweig and Alice Joy Lewis.
Allen and Andrea attend Tri-City Baptist Church and teach strings at Tri-City Christian School and
in their home. They live in Independence, MO with their three children.

Mr. Ben Culver - Beginner Orchestra, Violin Instructor, Chamber Coach - Ben Culver earned a degree
in Music Education from the University of Michigan where he studied violin with Stephen Shipps.
He teaches the Middle School Orchestra in the Saline Area Schools, teaches privately, and serves
as Artistic Director for the Saline Fiddlers, America's premiere youth fiddling group. Ben
is widely sought for his expertise as a composer, producer, sound engineer, clinician, and studio
musician. He is a member of Ann Arbor Baptist Church in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Miss Esther Walker - Pre-Twinkle Program, Violin Instructor, Chamber Coach - Esther Walker
recently graduated from Maranatha Baptist Bible College with a degree in missions and music.
While at Maranatha, she studied String Pedagogy under the direction of Elizabeth Pabon and
taught in the Maranatha String Preparatory School. She is currently teaching private violin
lessons and group classes, as well as conducting the Sinfonietta in the String Preparatory School.
Esther recently finished her final semester at Maranatha acting as Concert Master for the Maranatha
Symphony Orchestra.

Mr. Timothy Hammond - Cello Instructor, Chamber Coach - Timothy Hammond is entering his third
year as Cello Instructor for Maranatha Baptist Bible College. Timothy received his Masters Degree
in the spring of 2007 from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he studied with Uri Vardi. As
a cellist, Timothy frequently plays with many different orchestras around the state of Wisconsin,
and enjoys playing any sort of chamber music with friends in his spare time. Timothy is also the
orchestra director and assistant choir director at Wyldewood Baptist Church in Oshkosh, WI.

Miss Amy Shafer - Harp Instructor - Amy Shafer, DipABRSM, affiliate teacher with
The Harp School, Inc. in Tennessee, is a student of Caol McClure. Miss Shafer is a candidate for
a Diploma in Harp Pedagogy with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM)
and has successfully used The Angel's Harp (TM) method in teaching beginning harpists.

Miss Julie Mueller - Harp Instructor - Julie Mueller, DipABRSM, affiliate teacher with
The Harp School, Inc. in Chicago, is a student of Carol McClure. Miss Mueller is a candidate for
a Diploma in Harp Pedagogy with ABRSM and has successfully used The Angel's Harp (TM) method
in teaching beginning harpists.

Miss Kelsey Lederman - Harp Instructor - Kelsey Lederman, DipABRSM, affiliate teacher with
The Harp School, Inc. in Indiana, is a student of Carol McClure. Miss Lederman has completed
training in the first levels of The Angel's Harp (TM) method.
